I Love My Pajamas
10/20/2004, performance, Shanghai, CH; 2005 two-channel video installationperformers: Edit Nagy (H), Salla Willmann (FIN), Anita Sarosi (H)
In 2004, Anita Sarosi spent three months in China as an artist-in-residence. During her stay in Shanghai, she noticed people shopping, eating, and walking in the streets while wearing pajamas. Inspired, she and her artist friends ventured to the city center – wearing their own pajamas like the locals – to take a typical tourist photo on the Bund. Comfort, she discovered, knows no boundaries. :)
'I Love My Pajamas' was presented in 2005 at Sarosi's Solo Exhibition, TRAFO Gallery, Budapest, Hungary
Ironically, in 2007, the Chinese government banned wearing pajamas in public streets ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games, which prevented the piece from being shown at the artist's Solo Exhibition at the Chinese Culture House in Budapest.
