Map
1997, mixed media, 03:00 min.The 'Map' presents a condensed history of visual illusion, exploring how we, as viewers, become immersed in the image itself. The artist constructs a conceptual mind map – a visual guide that leads us on an art-historical journey through space and time.
The work follows the perceptual journey of the viewer – who simultaneously becomes the protagonist – through the layered realities of painting, theatre, film, augmented, and virtual reality. By transforming the two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional experience and applying the logic of central perspective, the 'Map' draws us into a world that both reveals and, paradoxically, reinforces the mechanisms of illusion – while ultimately offering liberation through the very act of understanding.
'Map' has been featured in many international festivals and exhibitions, and won several awards. Among others 'Map' was the Winner of the Virtual World Category at the National Art Biennale, Hungarian National Gallery; it was presented at the Video Art Locarno, Switzerland; Bauhaus Dessau, Dessau-Roßlau, Germany; L’imagine leggera, Palermo, Italy; Perspective – International Media Art and Media History Exhibition, Kunsthalle, Budapest; and so on.
